Hello Parents!
I hope that you enjoyed your winter break with family and friends! I miss the kiddos so much and cannot wait to see them soon!
In Reading we have been working on reading at our just right levels, learning our sight words and pointing to the words as we read. We just finished learning about the -at word family, or words that end in -at. This coming week we will begin learning about the -ap word family. Please continue to work on your child's sight word list at home along with their JRL book. I am so proud of the amount of progress students have made since the beginning of the year!
In Writing we are continuing to work on writing small moment stories of true life events. We are practicing using the word wall, ABC banner and Zoo friend papers to as tools to help us when we write. Students are doing a phenomenal job stretching their words out and using letter sounds!
In Math we are working on addition and subtraction problems along with ten frames and partners of ten. Soon we will begin learning about teen numbers and building teen numbers with tens and ones.
In Social Studies we will be concluding our project on the farm and we will end the semester learning about maps. We will begin our Science unit on motion when the new semester begins.
Notes/Reminders:
-please make sure your child has a change of clothes at school
-your child may bring a sled to school if they wish
Stay warm!
Ms. Monica
