Week of Septemeber 16-20

Hello Parents!

I hope you had a great break week! We had so much fun the week before break. Art Prize was awesome! Thanks to all of the parents who came and volunteered their time.

"Tired Pandas" at Art Prize
This week in Reading we finished our unit on Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See? We had a blast with this book! This week we practiced rhyming words and breaking apart the character names.
Giovani "writing the room" during Literacy Centers
In Writing we continued to practice picturing in our minds what we want to write about before we write. We practice visualizing a true, small moment. I am so proud of these writers and cannot wait to see them progress throughout the year!
Brown Bear Rhyming
In Math we practiced comparing numbers using cards and block towers. We practiced adding, subtracting and writing numbers 1-15. We also got to work with Ms. Kelli's class and used the iPads! We love learning with different forms of technology!
Math on the iPads!
In Social Studies this week we talked about homes, what a home is and why. We talked about different types of homes: apartments, houses, townhomes, etc. This coming week we will be talking about needs and wants and the difference between the two.

Matching upper and lowercase letters with spoons!
In Spanish this week we completed our unit on the body, or El Cuerpo. Each day we learn about the colors, numbers, days of the week, months of the year and the weather. We also try and use Spanish as much as possible throughout the day. This coming week we will begin our unit on Animals, or Los Animales. We will also learn about a Mexican Holiday, Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead.

Notes/Reminders:

-Portfolios will be sent home this week with MAPS scores. Due to Art Prize and not many kiddos being at school and without backpacks we are sending them home this week.

Thank you and have a great week!

Ms. Monica
